Eyeliner | Lash Enhancement

“I’m really happy with the process and the results. The procedure itself was WAY less painful and scary than I thought it would be, and the healing process was very easy for me. My eyelids are super oily, so normally eyeliner transfers to my lower lid and smudges during the day – this stays intact all through exercise summer heat and my active lifestyle. I still add a bit more eyeliner for special occasions, but for everyday make-up this has been fantastic!” – RL
Eyeliner | Lash Enhancement

Eyeliner can be applied in many styles and colors, from soft, natural-looking lash enhancement to a defined line–the choice is yours! Some people feel both upper and lower eyeliner suits their needs best, while others feel only an upper or a lower eyeliner is appropriate for them. Whatever look you choose, you will wake up, shower, exercise, work, swim, and go to bed always looking your best. No more tattle tale eyeliner smear or smudge during the day, no more concern when participating in sports activities and best of all, your appearance remains consistently fresh throughout the day and night.

Who shouldn’t get eyeliner

Is eyeliner important to your appearance and feeling of self-confidence? Does your eyeliner smudge? Does it wear off during the day? Do you have trouble getting it straight or even? Are you allergic to cosmetic products or are allergies causing you to re-apply several times a day? Do you have sparse eyelashes? Maybe your job requires that you go make-up free. If so… permanent eyeliner is perfect for you!

How long does it take

Your Eyeliner is broken up into two appointments – the first appointment and then 4 to 6 weeks later, a perfecting session.
First Treatment: Please allow up to 1 hour for your first eyeliner appointment to be completed.

When you arrive to your appointment Tonya will take a before picture and will chat about your desired look and color.

Most of the appointment time is spent waiting for numbing to take effect (this is a Lignocaine & Tetracaine based product.) During the numbing process (approximately 20 minutes) you will have time to relax. The tattooing itself is quite quick.

Once finished with the tattooing, you’ll discuss aftercare and take some after photos to compare.

Perfecting session

Tonya will see you in 4-6 weeks for your perfecting session.  The time between appointments gives the skin time to heal and lets the color settle. The second appointment will not take as long.  Tonya will see how your skin has held the pigment and can make any adjustments to color or shape as needed. But really this appointment is exactly as described- it’s all about the perfecting of your new eyeliner.

Healing

Healing usually takes about a week. However, please allow a few days if you have an event or special occasion coming up. Tonya tells clients not to micro-analyze their eyeliner until 30 days that’s when you will know your completely healed pigment.  Your new permanent eyeliner will go through several phases during the healing cycle.  The pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin, and has not yet settled in completely.

The color of the pigment will soften gradually, and you may see some pigment on your towel after washing your face, or on your pillowcase – do not be alarmed.  Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, the eyeliner will look like dry skin. This might give you the impression that the color pigment is fading too quickly; however, this is just superficial color and dry cells being naturally removed from your skin. After a couple of days this will subside. Don’t pick or scratch. It is highly recommended to wear sunglasses when exposed to the sun, as sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.

Does it hurt

In a word, maybe.  But not that much. Numbing cream and gel are used liberally throughout the procedure and it’s more discomfort than pain. Please take a few Tylenol 30 minutes before procedure.

How long does it last

Everyone’s skin is different so it greatly depends on your skin composition and your healing process. No guarantee can be made that a specific client will benefit the same as another from this procedure. Eyeliner is implanting pigment into the basal layer of the epidermis; it is a form of cosmetic tattooing, using fine, delicate passes.

Other factors that play a role in longevity are skin color, the pigment used, thickness of the lines, and how aggressive your immune system is in metabolizing the pigment.  Factors such as sun exposure, BOTOX, AHA’s (lactic, glycolic, citric, retinoic and tartaric acids) or any OTC creams and lotions for tone correcting, anti-aging, exfoliating, or lightening the skin can cause your eyeliner to fade.

Eyeliner procedure lasts about 18 months.  Permanent make up is “semi” and client results will vary. Commonly you will need a touchup at 1-2 years. Generally the results are amazing but it very much depends on your own skin type, texture and oiliness. After care must be taken seriously!

Choosing a color

Tonya recommends black if you wear black eyeliner everyday, as black can be stark and bold. Other popular softer colors are tones of brown, smoke, and green. Other complimenting fun colors are navy blue, bright blue, purple and teal. You name it she can do it.

Can I get eyeliner if I am pregnant
